Omnath returns, and as expected picked up the fourth colour. Four colours, four mana, four abilities, on a 4/4 body. They really went for it this time around. My main goal was to use and abuse the second landfall ability to add WURG to your mana pool. With a quick fetchland you’re well ahead on mana and can drop 4/5 CMC spells off of the Omnath and the one land.
In this variation of the deck, I’ve added more defensive and refuel cards. There are combo and control variants, however, I believe in the core of this deck being a high-value ramp strategy. I try to never be reliant on the Commander for a deck to function and this is certainly the case here. During testing Omnath does not last long on board but loses practically nothing by constantly recasting thanks to its card draw enter the battlefield effect. Everything about Omnath is valuable: The draw, the life gain, the mana, and the four damage to each opponent and their Planeswalker is just gravy.
Omnath may be the one of the reasons I try my hand at the Collector Booster Box this time around. This is exactly what I wanted to see back during the year of four coloured Commanders, just not a fan of group huge. Switching to a basic land package would allow for other tricks and spells to be played but I always aim for the maximum output to see the potential in Commanders. If you get a chance to play with or against Omnath I hope you enjoy. I wholeheartedly welcome Four Coloured Omnath to team Elementals. Now how long until five colour?
