Anyone paying attention knows that I can't resist a good five colour deck. The newest rendition of Omnath isn't quite that, but until our Wizards overlords get around to printing the next busted installment of the Omnath series, he plays the part nicely. Today in exploring Omnath.format, we pick out a deck that has had brief moments in the sun before: 4-Colour Copy Cat!
4-Colour Copycat has from time to time showed up in Modern, usually played by people still mourning for the loss of their true love, Splinter Twin. More importantly, it already plays the same 4-colours of mana required to cast Omnath, Locus of Creation. With the deck becoming less and less combo centric and more and more focused on a value strategy, the deck has become much more resilient to targetted hate in the format. Where previously a single Pithing Needle may have been a problem, we now have answers in the form of Teferi, Time Raveler, or secondary win cons such as ultimating a Wrenn and Six, casting an Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath, and now joining the ranks, valuing them out with a copy or two of Omnath, Locus of Creation. With all these extra lines of play comes more interesting decisions and more immersive gameplay. And if you enjoy a good janking, we also get to include one copy of Myr Battlesphere to fetch off a Saheeli Rai ultimate.
Will my opponents scoop to the combo? Will they make me click eight thousand times in hopes of timing me out? Check out the video and find out!
