This week's deck brings together two unlikely partner commanders for the sake of creating a very cheaty experience that I think everyone will love.
Basically we have a deck here where ideally you will never pay full price for your creatures and be able to benefit from their abilities several times over the course of a game. Mardu isn't the first colour-combo we think of when blinking creatures comes to mind, but the fact that we have access to Livio, Oathsworn Centinel in our Command Zone means it's a very viable option. Vial Smasher exists just to give us access to Rakdos colours but also can pay us off if we do ever need to play any of our big mana creatures later in the game.
But the real meat of this deck is the inclusion of Sneak Attack. Sneak Attack has lowered in price over the last year and is finally semi-accessible to us budget players so why not really make a go at it here? Livio, Oathsworn Sentinel interacts well with the creatures you would sacrifice with Sneak Attack's ability but also with the Unearth creatures (it works!) and other reanimation effects.
As a result, this deck has some set up time involved but once you have one or two of your pieces, it's off to the races casting the biggest and baddest creatures you can find. Honestly, this deck feels like an old Kaalia deck at times and could have easily leaned towards demons and dragons and angels as a theme. There are a lot of different themes this deck could have taken on and as a result, you can even cut the pricier Vial Smasher from the Commander slot and try out just a Boros or Orzhov version and have a lot of the same results. I'd recommend staying in Red for Sneak Attack but have fun with Livio, Oathsworn Centinel, he is a great Commander and I can't wait to play this deck!
